Treatment of Posttraumatic Scar with Ablative Fractional Erbium: YAG Laser
Scars following trauma [1] is a cause of concern for many a patient. Various modalities have been used for the treatment of scars over the years. Corticosteroids, dermabrasion, surgical revision, chemical peeling, silicone gel application, pressure therapy, and radiation have been used with varying results [2]. Ablative lasers such as the carbon dioxide (CO2), erbium: yttrium-aluminum-garnet (E...
متن کاملCombination Surgical Excision and Fractional Carbon Dioxide Laser for Treatment of Rhinophyma
Rhinophyma is a severe late complication of rosacea, which is characterized by progressive hyperplasia of sebaceous glands and connective tissue involving the lower two-thirds of the nose. It can be an emotionally devastating disorder, and serve as a medium for occult cancers and other health problems. Many surgical treatments have been advocated, as well as dermabrasion and laser therapy. In l...
متن کاملPhotodynamic Therapy with Ablative Carbon Dioxide Fractional Laser in Treatment of Actinic Keratosis
BACKGROUND Recently, photodynamic therapy (PDT) has been shown to be an effective first-line treatment for actinic keratosis (AK). However, a major limitation of PDT is the long incubation time required to allow penetration of the photosensitizer. OBJECTIVE The aim of this study was to assess if pretreatment with an ablative carbon dioxide (CO2) fractional laser can reduce the incubation time...
متن کاملAblative fractional carbon dioxide laser combined with intense pulsed light for the treatment of photoaging skin in Chinese population
Intense pulsed light (IPL) is effective for the treatment of lentigines, telangiectasia, and generalized erythema, but is less effective in the removal of skin wrinkles. Fractional laser is effective on skin wrinkles and textural irregularities, but can induce postinflammatory hyperpigmentation (PIH), especially in Asians. This study evaluated the safety and efficacy of ablative fractional lase...
متن کاملHypertrophic scarring of the neck following ablative fractional carbon dioxide laser resurfacing.
BACKGROUND Ablative fractional carbon dioxide (CO(2)) laser treatments have gained popularity due to their efficacy, shortened downtime, and decreased potential for scarring in comparison to traditional ablative CO(2) resurfacing. To date, scarring with fractional CO(2) lasers has not been reported. OBJECTIVE Five patients treated with the same fractional CO(2) laser technology for photodamag...
